Mainting a professional attitude. Being able to forsee what needs to be done, finding the best, most efficient way to get it done with little instruction and keeping everything secret. Then tolerating the external distractions that go with a high tension position. Especially the office gossip that comes with success.

you already have a link, and i do not know of one which is any better, but i do know that other than skills you will need for the industry that your boss works in, you need to develop the ability to read minds. yes, i am serious. an effective executive secretary is well paid because they can anticipate the needs of their bosses without their bosses having to tell them. you need to be open to a wide variety of personalities, and sort of reading in between the lines of their sentences. part of your job is to make their day run smoothly, so the more you understand THEM, the better they will like you and the more effective they will know that you are. therefore, the higher salary.
