congratulation my friend! Although I don't know what kind of job you are going to be doing there, and which company you gonna be working for I think, you got one of the best Job Offers.
I happened to live in Libya,Tripoli for 2years,and in the beautiful coastal city Alkhoms, for 3more years. I also have a youger brother who, still work s in Libya for over ten years.I enjoyed being there, and I have made substantial amount of saving. And most of all some life time ,good friends.
To travel to Libya, weather for business or else, you don't have to know Arabic, because there always some one out there who speaks little English to guide you.In general Libyans are simple and friendly.
They love foreigners, and they trust Westerners.Italian Language will be a plus ,if you speak it.It would not take you long to get to know the Libyans personality and communicate with them.
Food is not expensive. And most likely you going to prepare your meals at home.In Tripoli also there are good Italian restuarants.
Apartments, are not expensive to rent.It will be a good idea to find a room mate, since the appartment are always too big for one person to live. The cost of rental range from $300 to $400 a month for 2 bed ,2 bath appartment.
The weather,in Tripoli and the coastal areas is mild, and similar to California weather. Some areas are very hot,in sumer ,such as Sabah in the south. Drinking water is salty in Bengazi ,one of the largest cities.
By the way if you happen to be a drinker, there is no bars, but Liquor is always available for non muslim foreigners.
finally, I would like to assure you that it is very safe to work and live any where in Libya. The one thing you should be worring
about is how to spend some of the money you going to make.
Good luck dear.
