Why do birds ........ poop on my car!!!?

Question

Goddamit! I walked out from work to find at least 6 bird poo stains on my car!! Not happy! Are birds attracted more to red cars or something???
Do you get the same problem?

So glad I'm not the only one! And actually my car was parked by a lampost not a tree!! But I swear the birds love my car!! .......... i think elephant poop would probably mean you'd end up taking the bus that day.......

its nothing personal...its just what they do...yes, they do it to mine as well..and my car is navy blue. lucky tesco car wash is cheap!!

I have a red Mitsubishi Eclipse, and my mother has a Burgundy PT Cruiser, the birds seem to attack our cars all the time but our other vehicles are rarely poo'd upon.

I ask this similar question to my biology professor and she said it likely has something to do with red being particularly attractive to the birds (perhaps it reminds them of berries? or flowers?)

Test: Anyhow, I tested this theory by leaving my car in the parking lot of my university over the long weekend. (benefits of a smaller college = nobody there during hollidays). As control, we also parked my brother's truck (purple), and my friend's jeep (green). Another red car was already in the lot.

Results: Atleast 10 spots between the 2 red vehicles. Zero on the green jeep, and one on the purple truck.

Try not to park under trees!!!!! I always find that my car gets splatted on the day that I might need to give someone a lift!! In my road, if you park in the wrong bit - your car gets COVERED!!!

its not only your car that gets it beleive me, but try not to park under trees the more solitary the better bird poo is the worst thing ever can happen to car paint

Actually, did you know that birds have no control over their bladders? I was amazed to learn this because it seems like they target people. I'm glad people have control over that, it could be really embarrasing.

I think the local bird population here play games; they have "pick a car colour week" and crap on every car of that colour. That's the only way to explain weeks of poop free black cars, then all of a sudden, every time you go out, theres another layer of it on your car!

your probably parking under an overhead line or tree,, quick solution is get yourself an air rifle and " kill them all" p.s. the colour of your car makes no difference they **** everywhere!

My cars bronze, and bird poop all over it. In a few weeks time, where I park my car there is an elderberry tree, and all the poop is purple, and it stains.

sometimes they aren't trying to. Sometimes the wind blows the poop on stuff. For instance a big glass window in a shopping area......poop gets on it, but the bird didn't fly up to it and turn sideways and squirt poop on it.......the wind decided it would be a good idea not the bird.

because they can! No seriously first do not park under trees, that is the only time I have had birds poop on my car, and that was white. also a transfer of a falcon on the window may put them off. best of luck.
