Diarrhea during pregnancy?
I'm 12 weeks pregnant. Up until today I haven't had any problems with diarrhea. But this morning I woke up with really bad cramps then the diarrhea started. I'm concerned about the cramps though as I know they can be a sign of miscarriage, but since I have diarrhea, is it likely that the cramps are coming from that? Has anyone else here dealt with cramps and diarrhea during early/mid pregnancy?

At 12 weeks, you're a lot less likely to miscarry than in the prior weeks, especially if your doctor has confirmed a healthy heartbeat. The cramping is just from the diarrhea, and will happen with other bm's as well sometimes. If you start spotting or bleeding at all, call your doctor. Otherwise it's just another fun part of being pregnant.

No, diarreah is not a sign of miscarriage. A lot of women experience constipation during pregnancy, but others counteract and have diarreah. I am one of those women, too. Trust me, it's totally better than not being able to go at all. Try to lay off the prenatal vitamins for a couple of days and that should stop it. Or try eating some yougurt. That works pretty well.

Pregnancy hormones can really reak havoc on your body. The placenta takes over production of pregnancy hormones around week 12 and these changes can cause a lot of symptoms. If you feel that the cramping is severe or you experience bleeding see your doc immediately. Be careful about taking over the counter meds for diarrhea. Consult with a pharmacist if you need to. You may just have a bug and hopefully it will go away soon. Drink lots of fluids and if you start running a fever, you'll want to keep it down too. But, just Tylenol. If you are not better tomorrow, see a Dr. anyway just to be on the safe side. Trust your gut, if you feel like something is not right, then it probably isn't.

When I was around that many weeks I had horrible diarrhea for around a week and was terrified. I did talk to my doctor and all he said was stay hydrated, drink a lot of fluids and make sure you are eating. Everything turned out fine, my daughter is now 8, but call the doctor if you are too worried because the stress is not good for you either, but mine turned out fine.

Well I didnt experience diarrhea at all. It was the opposite for me, constipation. If you are having it more than once or twice in a day and are not getting better then please call your doctor and just ask. Its not going to hurt to ask a question to be safe. Also, they may tell you to take something to see if it relieves it and go from there. While 12 weeks is usually the point at which they say you are less likely to miscarry, you can at any point so just keep an eye on how you are feeling. Cramping with diarrhea is usually cramping and then having diarrhea, which should relieve the cramping. If you continue cramping though without diarrhea then it could be something else. Better safe than sorry so call your doctor if your condition does not improve soon.

does it feel like diarrhea cramps? if it does then its from the diarrhea. IF it feels any different other than poo cramps, then call ur dr. but ive been told that diarrhea can happened in early pregnancy and late pregnancy due to hormones making u sick to your stomach. My DR told me that because i experienced it early on in this pregnancy

I am currently 21 weeks and have had that around that time and occassionaly recently, due to the hot weather in my area. The best thing that helped me was to drink lots of water, i was always afraid that if i had to go out somewhere that it would happen, so about an hour before i left i started drinking water and when we went out, i made sure i kept drinking water and didn't have to go at all. it's easier said than done to keep your fluids up, but that's the best thing that can relieve it right now and make you more at ease.
