Yes, the normal dose range for this medication is 5-60 mg by mouth daily in either one dose or divided doses. The maximum is 250 mg daily for adults. Thus, yes, this appears to be a safe order. Note, however, that individual responses to medications vary among people due to age, gender, genetic factors, and a whole list of other things. But, according to current drug sources, this does fit with the normal dosage regimine for prednisone.

It may be a safe order, especially if it's for a patient who had an asthma exacerbation. Of course, the best way to know if an order is right is knowing the patient. Depending on weight, age, etc, the dose is adjusted.

The usual dose for many indications is about 1 mg/kg/day, so that would be expected in somebody of around 90 or 100 pounds' body weight. Smaller doses, and doses double that, are not at all unusual.
