A pink sweat shirt with lace around the collar with a picture of a cat hanging from a clothes line. I was eighteen and my boyfriends Mom got it for me our first christmas together. I think it was a hint of life to come.

On the first Christmas that we were married, the ONLY gift I received from my husband that year was an ironing board. He wrapped it in a paper bag and when I opened it, he said that he was tired of his shirts always being wrinkled and that he hoped that the ironing board would solve the problem.

I don't mean to be picky about my gifts, but I have received a penny for a Christmas gift.

I got a "coupon" to help clean my house from my mom - - not too subtle of an idea, huh? Right after that I got a bathroom scale from her, since I had gained some weight and she must have thought I didn't notice....

A magenta sweater from my aunt and uncle. It had black stick figures woven into it and tassels along the bottom. It was the stereotypical Christmas sweater.

A HUGE white and pastel alabaster scene type thing from my Mother-in-law. It must have weighed 30 pounds and was over 2 feet long and about 10 inches tall. It was a statue of a garden scene with angles, cherubs, flowers and garden type things.
My home is decorated in Tuscan style, and that huge pastel statue was soooooo out of place. Since my MIL lives only a couple hours away and comes to visit, I had to display it prominently.
Strange thing happened once when I was cleaning it a couple years after she gave it to me...it "fell" and broke. LOL
