It is not a salary it is called welfare. Basically those who refuse to work or cannot find work go on to the welfare system where they get a check every month to buy 'basic necessities' but in reality they can buy what ever they want with it. I believe the payments are about 500 dollars a month.

It is a waste of money and it tees off hard working people like me. Many of us are sick of our hard earned tax payer dollars going to people who don't want to work but he politicians will never remove it because the system gets them votes

There is also unemployment insurance as a safety net for those who are hard working but lose their job but it only last long enough for them to find a new job.

Not sure exactly how it works in the US. In Canada we have an E.I program (Employment Insurance). The way it works is, while you ARE working, a portion of your paycheck goes into E.I so that if you are laid off or otherwise lose your job you receive pay while looking for another. Usually this is between 500 and 1200 per month. Canada also has a program called AISH which is where the government pays so much money to people's with disabilities or can other wise NOT work.

In the USA we have welfare & it's constantly abused. People work the system instead of working at a JOB.
    Here's a common scenario:
females: have many children, claim that you don't know who the "baby's daddy" is, then sit back and reap the benefits of free money and excellent health care! The government will load up your "EBT" card every month for your groceries. And you still get subsidies on the side like, "section 8" housing, reduction in utilities, etc. Not to mention all of the other "freebies" that are too many to mention (and I'm sure I don't even know them all.)
males: live with the "baby's momma" and sit back and reap the benefits. DON'T GET MARRIED! Because then you'll be responsible for monetarily raising the kids.
What a concept! Screw the middle class taxpayers!
EDIT: Oh no - Some are more than $500/month! Depends on how many little mouths to feed!

It is called "welfare" and they make collecting it very demeaning. And it is barely enough to survive in extreme poverty.

It is not a good way to live.

The male recipients have to line up for hours to collect it and they force the male and females with no children to look for work in order to collect it.
