If you only have one hard drive there is no way to format without an Operating system CD... If you have a friend with the same operating system you can use their CD but you need to use your OS Key.. The OS key should be on the side or back of your computer, you just need the CD to format and reload the OC...

if it is secondary drive you go to my comptuer > then to the drive and right click > format

Yes but you need to think about this. If you do not have a operating disk or a system recovery disk then your computer will be unusable until you reload the operating system.

To reformat, use a jumpdrive that has the boot info on it (You can google how to make a jump drive bootable) Once you have done this (or if you have a floppy drive, you can use it), google how to make a boot floppy).

Then boot using your boot device (USB Jump Drive or Floppy) type in format c:\ and say yes to the warning.

Once formated boot using your boot device and run fdisk, then create a dos partition.

Then boot using your operating system cd and re-install your operating system.

Reload all your drivers, re-install all your programs, re-install all your documents ( that you backed up). Do all your updates and install your printer, camera etc and

    your done.

    Good Luck
