What are things every child should have growing up?

This is just a fix of my previous question, this time, more material please. Other then loving parents, and friends, what should every child have when they are growing up? What is something you wanted when you were growing up? Thanks a bunch.

What should every child have?

Unscheduled time and plenty of it, to play, to read, to think.

At least one adult who reads aloud daily, ideally for a half hour or more.

Toys which foster creative play, like blocks, scarves, clay, string, stuffed animals, paper and crayons, and costumery.

A safe area where s/he can play outside.

Sound nutritional and hygienic habits, which may last a lifetime.

What did I want and not have growing up? The big box of Crayolas with the built-in sharpener. I mentioned this to my mom when I was in my twenties. Guess what I got for my next birthday.

A bike, toy to cuddle up to at night, books to read and be read to, art stuff, a few musical instruments - you can make shakers, pots and pans to drum etc, a kite, balls, kid size chair and table, toy stroller for teddy, leafs, sticks etc, nature walks go to the park, sand pit, paddling pool, puzzles, etchasketch, black/white board, chalks for drawing outside - on the pavement etc, den making stuff like large cushions and clothes airers. Go on picnics, go puddle jumping, get a pet - fish, stick insects, ant farms! The list is endless. What about a trip to see Santa!

More than anything else, I wanted a house to live in. Most of the other kids lived in houses. My family lived in apartments. Apartment over a store. Apartment over a garage. A basement room in someone's house.
Two room apartment on 2nd floor of a house with a shared bath.

I wanted a bathroom of our own and a bedroom of my own, with a real bed, not a roll-away bed with all of us trying to fit (my mom, dad, brother and me). And a bathroom with a tub AND and shower.

The second thing I wanted was a bike so that I wasn't confined to the apartment. Had one for one week, then somebody stole it and my parents couldn't afford to replace it. But I was in heaven for a week with that bike!

I grew up poor and I always wanted to be able to participate in a team sport or activity like piano, or dance. I really wish I could have learned SOMETHING when I was young that required practice or a class. I now have a 6 yr old who plays Tball and it has taught him a great deal about being selfless for his teammates.

    something nice to cuddle.
eg. i always had my toy lion and my friend always had a blankie.
it would shut us up when we were screaming and we wouldn't go to bed without it.
also i think you shouldn't introduce them to tv at a young age or any kind of macdonalds... keep them innocent as long as you can!

When I was younger I always wanted one of those mini cars that go like 2 mph or so, and a sit and spin. I grew up with a dog though, which was really fun, they got him a few months after I was born. He was so sweet. If I didn't have a dog/puppy, I would definitely want one. Hope this helps! :]
