North Koreans are welcomed and accepted in South Korea if they can get there. However, the problem isn't so much on the part of the South Koreans but the North Koreans who have a tremendously difficult times adjusting to life in a capitalist, democratic society.

In North Korea the government provides everything for you including all your needs, job and even your identity and place in society. In South Korea, many North Koreans are not able to adjust to this freedom and need to be responsible for their own life. A lot of North Koreans do very well for themselves but many struggle with life in South Korea.

South Korean government and NPO's provide assistance and support for North Koreans so they can adjust to life in South Korea but it is a difficult process.

There is also a serious problem of North Koreans who try to escape North Korea being hunted down by China and sent back to North Korea where they face being sent to concentration labor camps where they face torture and even death. China refuses to recognize these poor people as refugees but as illegal immigrants. Chinese criminals also capture North Korea refugees in China and sell the women as sex slaves. Children are abused and sold into sexual slavery as well by Chinese criminals. The North Korean who can make it out of North Korea and escape the Chinese government and Chinese criminals to a third country they can try to get access to South Korea or even the US. The entire process is expensive and very difficult.

No. Discriminating someone who is from same ethnic group as you is just plain dumb.

Yeah unfortunately, (not all) but the majority of South Koreans do not accept North Korean refugees. I once saw a documentary about North Korean refugees living in South and they said life is tough because they are considered as an outsider. So some cross over the borderline in China. I don't think this is because South Koreans are bad people but trusting someone from a communist country is not that easy.

South Koreans accept North Koreans as one of their people. because they are technically, they've just been separated.

I know South Koreans want to liberate North Korea. the more refugees, the better. South Koreans know the horrible living conditions up there in the North, and who wouldn't want to help them, right?

you gatta understand something about the mindset here...
south koreans DO NOT hate north koreans...
south koreans ONLY hate kim jong il, and the their form of government... thats all....
it would be very simplistic to hate their fellow koreans,,, afterall they share common ancestry....
its been 60~70 years since separation.... and both countries hope for reunification, but thats an impossibility due to the fact that one side has to give up their ideals, mindset, form of government, and their whole concept of belief...... so reunification is impossible, until the day another war happens and one side loses....

its just like when america was divided in 2 sides back in the days,,,,
its just the politics and the liberal minds that hate each other.....

i for one, dont have anything against the people... the people are just being brainwashed by their leader's doctrines... i dont blame them sometimes for believing in what they believe in... i just blame the leader...
