But the edits were deleted almost immediately and the page got locked down for 2 days because of “vandalism” it’s making me question whether or not that was an okay thing to do or not. Anyone want to weigh in on this? And please, no hate. I posted this an hour ago and had people calling me bad names and such. Just give well-intentioned advice

If you're doing a research paper for school, Wikipedia is like the old print encyclopedia, not the ultimate info source but a place to begin. If you really want to know about something in depth, Wikipedia will get you started with good basic info, and a list of references to chase to get more info if you want it. We didn't have Wikipedia when I was in school, but I'm surprised to see that many teachers won't allow students to use Wikipedia as a reference. I think this is because they don't want kids just looking up the Wikipedia article and paraphrasing it and there's their report. They want students to learn to use reference materials, to look stuff up, to have many sources. That doesn't mean they can't USE Wikipedia, only that they can't just stop there.

I just need your opinions. I tend to check almost always Wikipedia for anything, especially current events—buildings recently been under construction, bombings, death of famous people etc. However, I suspect the validity and reliance of Wikipedia as a source of knowledge since it allows users to edit anything freely. Britannica, in my opinion, deserves much more respect.

But when I did a bit of research online about it, I find articles saying that Wikipedia does not need money because it is a wealthy "company" so -to-speak,. Is someone running a scam? Should I donate to help their costs, or will they manage without donations and someone somewhere is trying to cleverly get people's money?

Another possibility is some sort of caching issue. Try purging the page cache by appending ?action=purge to the URL and hitting enter in your address bar.

  • Atheists, how would you respond to a theist who claims that belief in God is a foundational belief, or self evident ideas?

Best answer: Self-justifying beliefs still need to be justified; they just aren't justified by relying on other beliefs.
What quality of God makes it self-evident, self-justified, without relying on other beliefs?

We would need to compare God with other self-evident things.
What other self-evident things are there?
