I ve been getting off at 10:30 pm each night but now I want to ask my boss if I can change my hours to leave at maybe 7:30pm or 8pm. I ll be honest, the reason why I don t want to close anymore is because we have to clean the restrooms and I don t think I can do that anymore. The bathrooms are horrendous each night and the fumes from the cleaning supplies give me a headache each time I use them. I was told during the orientation that the night shift does clean the restrooms but I was desperate for a job and was already hired. Now I don t mind finding somewhere else to work if need be. I ve spoken to some coworkers about the likelihood of our boss changing my hours and one did say that he probably would since he s pretty nice and I ll still be working in the evening but another has said maybe not since they re understaffed during the night shift. Is it too soon to ask my boss for a change of hours since I ve only been working for about a week? And if not, what should I tell him my reason for wanting to change my hours since "I don t like cleaning the bathrooms" probably won t work? tdlr: want to change hours from night shift because I absolutely hate cleaning the restrooms. Have only been working for one week so is it too soon to ask for a change in hours? What excuse could I say?

I'd barely passed every school year until I finally dropped out at 16. I became completely isolated. I stopped talking to friends altogether and became a caregiver for my grandparents making $100 a week. I live with my parents, my grandparents live next door. I've basically had no contact outside of my immediate family for 8 years. I have no extended family and as previously stated I've had no contact with friends in 8 years, and have no one I could contact today. I've also had no social media accounts since I was about 16 and I have no idea how to find reliable information on the internet. I don't know basic math, I don't know how to format an email, I don't know how to talk to people on the phone and I don't know who to call for what. I literally have no idea how to do anything like an adult and my family is unable to help me. Where do I start?

Do they not realise that many applicants are also applying for many other jobs (some are being made to), and that we have to go through this nonsense again and again and again? Sometimes I think employers enjoy making it as hard as possible for people Some also ask you to explain any gaps in your employment which always makes me laugh. what for? because they think you've been in prison? well, maybe you have been, but most of us have not. I think your co-worker handled it well, letting everyone know she was having a rough day and didn't want people to take it the wrong way. You, in contrast, simply went about your day not being nice to people...there was a difference.

Just mind your own business. I don't mean that in a bad way...

For example, there are few jobs for people with a degree in 14th century French poetry that pay a 6 figure salary when starting out. On the other hand, tech companies do pay that for new hires with the right degree.

< Even a Liberal Arts BA used to almost guarantee a decent job of some sort. >

Not for a long time. I graduated nearly 40 years ago and at that time, people were being told liberal arts BA degrees were having a hard time finding employment with them.

He’s not talked to me about this instead he tells my co/workers , idk how I feel about that , that’s what I want to talk about , it bothers me when he addresses certain things about me to my co/workers , it feels like he’s gossiping about me , I can just tell by the look on his face but it then puts me in a emotional mood and they talk about how I seem like I’m in a bad mood . When he does that I feel he has some sorts team here and I’m just there , he can be stand off ish towards me at most times. Then he wonders why I’m being the way I am so distant because I don’t know how to be , I feel when I’m okay with him he’s not okay with me . When I’m in a room multiple times he’s gone in after I have left the room . I love my job I love being there , he’s a nice person but so weird towards me .

Best answer: Testing is entirely at the employer's discretion and no one here can know for certain what this specific employer's intentions are.

It is NOT safe to assume that just because some positions specifically mention testing that any position that doesn't will not be tested.

It is entirely possible that they could ask you at an interview whether or not you can pass a test. If they do ask you, here are your options for responses & outcomes:

    1) You can tell the truth and not get the job because you're on drugs.
    2) You can lie, get tested and not get the job because not only are you on drugs, you're also a liar.
    3) You can lie, get lucky that the employer does not test you, and then deal with the cloud hanging over you that you could be tested and lose your job at any moment.

Of course you could also just grow up and quit smoking...

Whichever one of those options is most appealing is entirely up to you.

So I worked for Best buy for about 5 years or so. Christmas was coming and many of my friends and family knew that I had a discount. They asked for suggestions for gifts and other necessities and I willingly offered them my discount. A couple months forward I was approached about my discount and asked if I was misusing it. I told them I was gifted majority of the things I ve purchased and they asked me if I ever sold anything. I did purchase products that were beyond the 30 day return policy so I had no choice but to sell them as Best buy wouldn t accept them. I wrote a statement about both and i was later terminated. Now 4 months forward Dyson had a job listing to work for as a representative. I took the offer and realized that I was going to be working within a Best buy. Couple of weeks have passed and eventually someone from management recognized me and told me to leave the store. I was told that I cant work for other companies that work with Best buy even though it wasn t stated. After my management tried to talk to them Dyson had no choice but to relieve me because Best buy refused to allow me to work within their Stores. The question is, is this within their legal rights? Just want some confirmation. Thank you.

When you go for an interview ask when they plan to stop accepting new applications and doing interviews. Some places have closing dates; others are open until they finally find the person they want. I would say that if you haven't heard from them within a week of that time (not a week from the date of your interview) then you didn't get the job.
