  • Does this sound like a silly response if my manager asks why I’m leaving?

I know this probably sounds like a stupid question but it’s my first job and I’m handing my notice but this week I’m leaving because I’m going on holiday for a bit and starting University in September. Does the holiday bit sound silly to say or shall I just say I’ve got a new job even though I haven’t?

  • I want call and ask about my job application, but im nervous. Advice?

Best answer: You call and ask "Is there anything more you need to know about me? ? Can I supply more information?" or something like that that makes you sound helpful. BUT ... did you send a thank you note? That act is often the second dividing line.

I am furious/ sad, I have worked at my company for 2 years and have experience helping with the training new hire class and much more experience then her. However, she was picked! I’m meeting with the manager next Tuesday to discuss my opportunities on what I could have done “better”. The reason I am bothered is because my friend said she did not even what this position, she only applied for the interview experience. She has worked for the company for 6 months and asked me for ideas how better herself. What should I do? I told her congratulations, but I am pissed. She hasn’t responded or tried reaching out saying she is sorry.

I am 17 years old and I have been working at this job since November, I have been diagnosed with anxiety about 2-3 years ago. I am unhappy at work and feel most comfortable quitting under personal circumstances (with anxiety and family illness) BUT my boss will most likely ask why or convince me into doing a leave of absence! This will be because its quite sudden (even if i put my two weeks in) and she asked me earlier if i plan on (which contributes to my anxiety because i have no plan). I am fortunate enough that my parents can feed me, but by quitting my job it just means i won't be able to buy anything extra. Any tips on what exactly i can say?

I felt pretty betrayed that I wasn't given a chance to learn from my mistake and was upset about it for a while. I had an interview with Publix about 2 weeks ago and I figured that honesty was the best policy and I explained to them that I had in fact been fired and told them the reason. I could tell that it immediately scared them away from hiring me and ended up not getting the job. I've been told by several people to lie about it, but not sure if that is the right thing to do. I have an interview with a local restaurant tomorrow as a hostess, and I'm not sure what to tell them about why I left Walmart. Can some one please give me some advice?

It's really stressful to me because it's my first job and I'm scared of taking too much time counting money, packing bags or finding the codes for the vegetables that don't have any tags... Also, the store that I work at has very few employees so most of the time, there will only be 2 or 3 cashiers so in peak hours, it's a total disaster! Sometimes, even customer service associates have to leave customer service so they can open a cash register! So, should I quit? It's my first job and I've only been there for less than a week... But it gives me so much anxiety!

But technically 2: Because, in short, I found out last minute I was going half way across the world for a month. (What was meant to be canceled, ended up forced to lose everything put into it or go shortly before take off date) I assume I am to ignore the second half entirely, but what is the most progressive way to word the first half? I'm applying for cheap work like fast food well I'm waiting for something worth moving to... So saying bad benefits certainly isn't going to make them think I'll stay... And what about the fact I've been taking two months personal time after said return as well? Thank you for your time and consideration. :)

I'm leaving my job due to anxiety, stress, and depression. We used to have two people doing my job, but for the past 1.5 years I've been doing double (sometimes triple) the work. I've been with the company almost 3 years and I've been so completely miserable that I honestly would rather kill myself than continue working here. At the moment, I'm in a dilemma of when I should tell them and how. I was planning on Monday, July 2nd, but I just found out that both of my bosses are going to be out of town for a conference. The company is so small that they're the only ones I would report to. I need my last day to be July 11th because my family is coming to town to visit until the end of the month. My boss never got back to me on the approval of the dates I originally requested off, but I just want to be gone by then. I want to give them at least a little notice because I'm the only one at the company that can do my job. I'm afraid if I tell them sooner they won't accept my notice and I don't want to run into issues getting my paycheck on the 29th. This company has always been kinda sketchy. Should I plan on my original date and tell them in an email? Or risk telling them early? Or any other suggestions?
