  • When I ask a waiter or waitress which dish is better in their opinion while ordering, will they always answer with the most expensive dish?

Best answer: Not really. There’s no point! The most expensive dish is not necessarily the one that earns the restaurant the most money. Whenever somebody asks me for a recommendation – and I’m the owner – I reply with another question: “What’s your poison? Chocolate, fruit or nuts?” And then I work from there. I’m... show more

Whenever somebody asks me for a recommendation – and I’m the owner – I reply with another question:

“What’s your poison? Chocolate, fruit or nuts?”

And then I work from there.

I’m interested in providing my client with a good experience, in serving them something they’ll really like, hoping they’ll order seconds, tell their friends and come back often.

Money is the hard honest consequence of a job well done.

Best answer: not so much recipes but more like directions. It's basically set up like how you would make hamburger helper at home. Everything is as streamlined as possible which means mostly prepacked mixes that are proprietary to the restaurant. Corporate doesn't want the peons on the line knowing too much about what goes into the products and for maximum efficiency, everything needs to be as simple as possible. obviously certain things like eggs are normal eggs and require basic skill to cook correctly. Same for meats like sausage or bacon. everything else is more or less assembling things in a particular order.

Last year, I was in a fast food restaurant and I ordered my meal in the restaurant. The guy who was serving me in the restaurant was British Asian in his 20s most probaly from Pakistani heritage. When he asked me whether I wanted salt and sauces with my meal, he kept addressing me as "my brother". For example; "Would you like some tomato ketchup with your meal my brother?" and also happened during other questions which he asked as part of my order. I am half South Asian and I am wondering why he addressed me as "my brother" when I am not his brother. Is it because I am appear to look Asian I am in my 20s.? Is it how some young Muslim or any Asian guys in the UK address Asian guys. I am not angry but I am just curious to know your views. Many thanks.
