He almost died last year from an infection in the winter. He also almost froze to death. So I was able to bring him inside last year. Everything was good I nursed him back to health until my brother brought his cat inside and my male marked my room. My mom made me kick him outside (spring time) well winter is here again. He has been staying inside but begs to go out potty. He had an accident 2 days ago. It was my fault cause I was sick and didnt put him outside. No big deal. Well today I put my sneakers on and they were wet. I though I dumped something on them, they didn't stink at all. After gym they reaked of cat urine. My mom is going to make me throw him oitside if I tell her..... What do I do? I don't think he will survive outside.😭

Today, I got the terrible news that she's suffering from multiple organ failures and due to her age, she isn't responding to treatment. My family is crushed and we're preparing ourselves for our little dog's incoming death. What can I do in my situation? I don't want to prolong her suffering so I want to put her down gently but my sister is against that since she wants to bring her home and have our dog pass away naturally with us.

Best answer: hi, dogs chew some through puppy some for life, personally ive always used a crate type environment when leaving a dog of mine from puppy upto quite a few years old when i feel secure they wont damage any longer. I would suggest the biggest crate you can get and give them chew toys, like nylon bones and kongs filled with pate and treats to occupy them while you are out. even if you arent open to crate them then a real exhausting exercise before you leave and the same suggested ideas for occupying their mind..dogs love to chew its a natural instinct i buy my german shepherds large leg bones from cows but i am never happy to let them have them whilst i am out because of choking. You really have to weigh up crating your dog and the damage and its potential effect on your family and how if your parents get fed up with the chewing and may want to rehome the dog, so a crate may be a good tool, if you do, never use it for punishment, you want it to be a den, a place of niceness their safe zone, so start off with putting lovely bones and treats on a comfy bed in it with the door open and gradually start closing the door and then progressing the time he is in there to making it a routine. good luck xx

I don't just mean he's deciding to pee inside though. He peed the bed one night and I assumed it was just a one time accident, but today I noticed him start to pee while laying on the couch then jump down and pee right there where he stood like he couldn't hold it. He didn't sniff or lift his leg or anything. Just let loose. Does anyone have any idea if this is just a side effect of old age or if I should be worried?

So my dogs, sister and I were walking in the park on Wednesday when we were attacked by an off leash pit bull. He was with his owners and as soon as he saw my larger dog, he bolted and started biting her face and throat. He even bit her leg and pulled fur out. I immediately started trying to separate them which lead to him knocking me over twice(I injured my back and hands) and he even chewed on my hand (no blood). His owners didn t try to stop him until he knocked me over a second time and I didn t get up because I was in pain. He also knocked over my sister. My dog started running away and he chased her to try and bite her again but then his owners called him back. She doesnt have any bad bite marks but she is limping on the leg whrre he pulled her fur out. My back and legs are in lots of pain from where he knocked me over, and my hands are sore. My problem id that these owners had their dog off leash in a public area, and that he immediately attacked our dog unprovoked. I remember clearly what he looks like and what his owners look like, should I report this? From my witnessing, this was a pretty vicious attack, our dog was constantly helping as she tried to get away.

I'll start this off by saying I love my girlfriend and I love dogs. I even work with dogs. However, this dog, I find it very difficult to deal with. I also live with my gf and she LOVES this dog. Okay so She doesn't listen hardly ever, she's terrible when you walk her and pulls and tries to jump at everyone and cars (not aggressively just annoyingly like good dogs don't do that and it's embarrassing) when I kiss my girlfriend or we are cuddled up on the bed or something she gets right in between us and she's constantly putting her face right in my face and pushing against me. She doesn't listen to me only to my girlfriend and we've been trying to train her better but she will only listen sometimes or she'll just ignore us and walk away and my gf won't do anything about it and it's killing me. My own dog is so well behaved and so smart and listens when called or if you tell him to get down or something. I feel really bad but I just need advice on how to handle my dislike towards her better because it always kills my mood or makes me bitter. I would also like to point out that I don't always feel extreme dislike for her but I guess im not used to having a dog who selectively listens and isn't very bright and who has an annoying personality. What do I do?

Hey there! So my 14 year old dog is really, really hairy. He’s a mutt of some kind and we adopted him from a shelter so I couldn’t tell you exactly what breeds he is, but his hair is about as thick as your average corgi. He’s not allowed inside because most of my family have asthma but he’s a very hardy dog and has been just fine all the years we’ve had him. That being said, he’s getting a bit older, so I’m worried his temperature regulation might be getting a bit more difficult. I brush him once every two days to help get rid of the undercoat he’s shedding, and we’ve set up a little shady space for him to lie down. However, it gets pretty hot in Australia in summer and I’m worried he might get heatstroke or something. Also, he’s scared of water - we think it has to do with his previous family, but he flinches even when someone is drinking from a glass of water near him, so hoses and sprinklers and baby pools are out, sadly. How else could we keep him cool?
