Hello, I have a 2010 HP Pavilion G71 Notebook PC with a Intel Core 2 Duo CPU, 4 GB RAM, and 285 GB storage. The PC has remained mostly unused for a few years — it’s sole purpose has been storing documents — and I figured I’d give it a new life as a gaming PC. Right now, this laptop cannot even play Minecraft without lagging. Can an old laptop be upgraded to play relatively new games (I.e. Fallout NV, CoD, Fortnite, etc)? If so, do you think it would worth the time and money? Or do you think I would end up spending as much money as it would take to just purchase a cheap gaming PC? Thanks.

My sister gave me her Lenovo laptop that she s been using for a year. I appreciate it since I needed a laptop for college, but she gave it to me with a few problems. For one, there is literally no space to do anything, I uninstalled all the apps, but there is still only 1gb of space on the device. I want to restart it to clear everything out, but I need space to restart it which I don t have. I bought a new sd card (64gb) to see if I could move files and download things to that, but the laptop keeps telling me that there are errors on the card, but there can t be since I just bought it. The second thing is that the Microsoft store and some of the simple functions don t work, like when I want to download a game, it never loads, it just sits there and says download, and when i want to search for something on the device, it says try again later, and the problem can t be the wifi because it works perfectly on other devices. Third thing is that the laptop goes really slow, when I want to search things on the internet, or use microsoft word, things go incredibly slow, I have a tablet with tons of bugs that go faster. Is there anything I can do to fix this laptop? I would appreciate any kind of advice.

Hello, when I first got my laptop, it had one stick of 8gb ram. I decided to upgrade it to 12gb as soon as I got it because I had spare ram from an old laptop. The laptop didn’t recognize it so I assumed my laptop didn’t support this ram which I thought was odd. But now today I went back and tried all my previous rams that I have and not a single one worked. It just kept saying 8gb. So I tested to see if it was the slot that was the problem by switching the 8gb to the other one but it worked fine. And it doesn’t have a cap of 8gb either because I tried 2x4gb and it didn’t work at all either. And during all the tests that I did without the 8gb, the laptop started but didn’t display anything. Which I assume that it thinks that there’s no ram in there. But after all this testing I thought it was a lost cause so I just put the 8gb back in and put it back together. Then when I turned on my laptop, it’s doing the same thing. It’s on but with no display. And I can not for the life of me figure out why. It was working several times before but it won’t work in either slot not. Can somebody please help me??

The charger had recently stopped working as the end had bent a little so I ordered a new one. It came today and once I used it, the battery icon said plugged in, not charging. My laptop is at 0 percent so I thought it would work if i turned it off for a while to charge (thinking maybe it was just saying that while it was on). 6 hours later I tried turning it on and it has no power and the AC adapter LED light isn’t on. I’ve tried taking out the battery and charger then holding the power button and trying again but still nothing. I can’t find anything online that works and not able to get onto my laptop to get to any drivers. Can anyone help me on here?? I use this laptop for work and all my work documents are on it (stupidly forgetting to put some on a USB).

  • Will dents to MacBook Air shell cause significant issues to performance of it?

Going to purchase a MacBook Air, however some dents have been noted by owner and I just want to confirm if these dents would effect the performance of it in general and or effect the life of the screen (unnecessary pressure/strain on screen from the inside) Pictures: https://imgur.com/a/iFfYgOc Thanks in advanced!

  • How Far Away Should I Keep Magnets from My Electronics?

I have this notebook with a magnetic closure that contains the names of all my OCs, which I'm always adding to. But I keep my phone, tablet and laptop close by most of the time. Is it considered paranoid if I'm worried about getting my book too close to any of those?

I suggest you try borrowing somebody's Mac computer to test it out first. I hate Mac OS, had to use Office on one for several semesters and the Mac version of Office was a huge pain to use.

Personally I like how much more cheaply I can repair Windows laptops. I also like the settings that Windows has so I can customize things to how I like them. Mac OS is locked down and rather than adapting the OS to how you like it, you've got to largely adapt to Mac OS.

    EDIT:
But I will add, I do find myself googling how to fix something about once a month on Windows, while only doing that maybe twice a year on Mac OS, which is something my wife likes about Mac OS. Though those few times I am googling problems for Mac OS the only solutions you find in forums is "wait for Apple to fix it."

  • Acer Laptop won't load windows.?

Best answer: Sounds like the hard drive may have dies and this is why it will not boot.
From what I can tell you have power as you get the option to press F10 but if after that there is no operating system then the HD has died.

It happens more often than you think with laptops, the plug gets loose and wobbly over time. Before i bought a replacement for mine I actually had it duct taped to the laptop because i cant have it going off with unsaved work
