  • Why is it so hard to shop in Canada!?!?

Best answer: Look for an electronic parts supply store. They usually have the largest selection of LED rope lights and accessories! In my area, we have "Electronics Warehouse" and "Orvac's". "Fry's" is another store you may want to try if they are in your area..

Best answer: Credit cards issued by stores ( Sears, Canadian Tire etc.) are actually issued by banks. The Sears Mastercard was actually issued by JP Morgan Chase (Toronto Branch). JPMC is a US-based bank. These credit card deals are usually done between banks and corporations as it's good for both (the more cards the banks issue the more money they make-which Sears would get a percentage of) and along with it goes some sort of "customer loyalty program" -in the case of Sears cards they gave "Sears points".

    http://www.searsfinancial.ca/creditcards.aspx

Basically what happened in this case was Scotiabank bought JP Morgan Chases Canadian credit card business. The 10 year deal Sears had with JPMG expired November 15th.

    http://www.marketwired.com/press-release/scotiabank-to-acquire-jpmorgan-chase-credit-card-portfolio-in-canada-tsx-bns-2064249.htm

Apparently Sears and Scotiabank couldn't agree on something-maybe the revenue split. Sears , in the mean time is issuing a rewards card that all accumulated Sears points will be transferred to. This is not a credit card-rather a card like "Canadian Tire money card" which many people use now instead of getting actual (paper) Canadian Tire money.

Sears still hasn't announced any new deal with anyone to issue a branded credit card in Canada.
