A friend has rats in home. How do I tell this person without hurting feelings that I will no longer be coming over because of the rats?
This person has lived in a trailer in the country their entire life. This person is not afraid of the rats. I've stayed there over night several times in the past 10 years. I saw mice a time or 2 but never big rats like the last one I saw the last time I stayed about 4 months ago. On the couch in the living area, about 3am in the morning, I see a rat coming down the counter or out of a drawer to the floor. I scream and wake the person & they act like its nothing and says "No you didnt stop lying" (joking). So they are used to this. I leave when the sun comes up cause Im scared to move and they wont help me, just go back to sleep.
I went back yesterday evening, and I can hear noises (I dont want to assume its rats). Friend heard them too and looks in the corner and says "Man Im tired of these mice, rats walking around here like they live here. I dont know how tf theyre getting in here" Me being scared cause they just confirmed the noises are rats, I scoot back on the couch and raise my feet off the floor. 2 mins later Im like yea Im about to ride and they join me.
Return and they invite me in, like I didnt have a panic attack the last time I saw one. I thought rats come out at night so I'm thinking if they walk around in the day time I can only imagine what happens at night. I say "no I gotta get home"
I believe they need to move, not sure of their finances. But they have money for extracurricular activites. How can I talk about w/out hurting feelings or insulting them?

What pet is best for my kids?
Favourite answer:Rats, mice, and guinea pigs are not good animals to free roam all day. Maybe a dwarf rabbit.
BTW Rats do make really nice pets. Mice are okay but their urine smells really strong. Guinea pigs are skittish, and you have to be sure they don't fall. They are fragile that way. The same is even more true of hamsters.
I advise that, whatever pet you get, insist on handling it before you buy it. Otherwise you might get a pet with a bad temperament.

Why is my room the coldest in the house?
My room is the coldest in the house, i thought i was the only one who noticed until my mother brought it to my attention. Before i'm told it could be a closed vent, thin curtains, or not enough movement, im in my room most of the time. There's two rooms, the one i was in before was cold and the one i'm currently in was warm, then i swapped rooms and now this one turned cold and the other one back to normal. what can this be from?? Like i mentioned, my mother had noticed the rooms changed according to where i moved, cant think of a logical explanation

Did my guinea pig rape the other?
I’ve been holding off on asking this because it seemed stupid, but I’m actually really concerned now. About 4 days ago, I noticed that my older, fatter guinea pig was walking weird. It looked like he was crawling or laying on the ground and scouching his legs to move. This might seem confusing so just imagine a human with both their kneecaps and shoulders broken. He also had a huge amount of semen/boar glue on him - about the size of a quarter. It was really disturbing. I noticed that my younger, slimmer guinea pig had ruffled up fur. I assumed that they had a fight and removed my younger guinea pig from the cage immediately. Later, was told that the younger guinea pig was humping the older one. My older guinea pig is the less dominant one and is very passive. He couldn’t even walk to go get his food after the assault, it had to be brought to him. This has happened before, but the boar glue was always no bigger than a pea and my guinea pig has never struggled to walk like that before. After soaking and cutting the boar glue out of his fur, I tried to see his belly but I couldn’t because he kept wincing in pain as I tried to pick him up. Finally today I was able to pick him up and his butt looks a little weird, like more exposed. I know this probably sounds so dumb but I’m very concerned. Also, the day after the assault my guinea pig was walking normally again but today he’s walking weird, like his front half seems to be fine but his back half seems a little slow. Please help.

Can a rat with three feet live a full life?
If a rat had three feet would it be able to live a happy life? Would it be fair to the rat or should it just be put down? What challenges would a rat with three feet face? The scenario being that the rat lost its foot at around 6 months old and doesn't seem to cause any pain.

Rats foot fell off? Help?
My rats foot got caught in his hammock a few days ago and at first it was red and swollen and he was limping on it. The next day it was kind of purple but didn't seem to cause him any pain. Yesterday it was red and appeared to just be bone, today it's just gone. What do I do? I can't take him to the vet because my parents say its fine and I have no way of getting him to the vet or even calling the vet without my parents. It doesn't seem to cause him any pain.

Is my pet rat depressed?
I have two rats Luci and Yang. Two days ago I noticed Luci isn’t coming when I call her any more, she isn’t eating much, and she’s sleeping a lot. Normally I call Luci or I even get near the cage and she comes running, she’s normally cuddly and over all a happy rat, but now she doesn’t come out of her hammock.. Then yesterday I put some food in front of the hammock to see if I could coax her out and she just leaned her head over ate a little bit but stayed in the hammock. I don’t know what’s wrong... Yang is the same eating playing everything but Luci just isn’t. Today I made Luci and Yang one of their favourite meals, layered lemon chicken flavoured rice, carrots, squash, broccoli, cauliflower, and lettuce. Luci wasn’t even interested in it. I had to put some of it in front of her to get her to eat.. it’s one of they favourite meals... I don’t know what to do. Please help! I don’t want her to keep being sad I love Luci more than anything on earth.

Can mice have sand?
Favourite answer:I have had plenty of mice. They can certainly have sand, as they often live on the ground in the wild. But I haven't known any mouse that would be interested in a sand bath. There is no harm in trying it out.

Ways to give a hamster exercise?
My hamster is about 9 months old and he seems to have stopped using his wheel. He doesn't like going in his ball. I let him out of the cage but I don't know of any other ways to give him exercise.
