Best answer: You can start a business right now with $0.

    No this isn’t a scam.

Go knock on the door of twenty businesses in your town.

Say you’re a social media wiz.

You grow social media accounts and can drive more traffic to their store.

You charge $500 a month to manage a social media account.

Chances are, out of those 20, you’ll land at least two clients.

    You’re now making $1000 a month.

I wonder what happens when you ask more stores.

    Your revenues increase.

Needing money to start a business is a excuse.

If you really want to start something, go out and sell yourself as a service.

  • Baby shop name containing "Roo"?

My son's nickname is Roo and I think that would be a good starting place for ideas for a name for my etsy shop selling hand made sewn baby items. I was thinking possibly "Little Roo", but was thinking someone may have a more creative idea.

  • Has your neighborhood had a problem with porch pirates?

Mine has for years but it's starting up again. I keep a lookout for those who might be looking to swipe packages off people's front porches. Just this afternoon, I saw an older woman and a young man in a gray coat and khakis who I thought may be looking for them. Do you keep an eye on your neighborhood?

Best answer: Let's start with some wisdom in Frank La Pira's answer that's already posted here. I second his first three words: "Are you crazy?" You should realize that a lot of pushed entrepreneurs envy you.

Second, what's missing, in your question, is what you are drawn to. You don't mention wanting to start any specific kind of business; you're asking what's out there. This is sort of like deciding you want to get married without having met the person. Notice, just as a readily available example, how Frank's friend he mentions followed her passion, to own and operate a gym. Startups work better when they're based on who you are, what you like, something you want to do better than anybody else, something you believe is worth it. Choosing from a menu of types of businesses rarely works.

Third, given point two, you might be a good candidate for franchising. Done right, the franchise business gives you the opportunity to buy in and then follow a formula – a proven successful formula – for success. Of course they aren't all done right, however; a lot of people who fail to vet the franchise end up losing money and worse off.

If you go that way, look up Joel Libava, The Franchise King, who doesn't sell them, but does have probably the world's best information on how to research, select, buy, and operate a franchise. That's at franchiseking Resources and Information. He sells information, not franchises.
