  • Should I use my existing savings to pay off my loan, or just continue saving?

I set aside money from each pay check into savings, and currently have enough to pay off the remainder of my auto loan, roughly $18k. Do you think it'd be wiser to pay off the loan and then start setting aside what I had been paying towards my savings, or hold onto my existing money in case anything came up?

The funds hit my account the morning of the 17th(as expected.) but, then I checked again and the funds were taken back out, and the whole check amount was put on hold until the 24th.....?! I called my bank(BOA) and they said it was pending verification. I had my boss call and see what was happening on their end(Chase) and the check amount has already been taken from their account. I called boa again and they said there was nothing they can do. So why is my check on hold at BOA when the funds have already left chase, we’re in my account, then taken back out? Makes no sense that BOA is keeping my money in limbo. I’ve been with BOA for 2 years, never hav had an overdraft.... so idk.

  • Why do banks and credit unions allow overdrafts?

It is dangerous especially because if several payments come through then fees upwards of $30.00 will hit for each transaction and someone would look up one day to see their account in the negative about $500.00. Why dont they just decline theses transactions in the first place?
