For years my husband has had an issue with sleeping. His problem is not falling asleep but staying asleep. We usually go to bed around 10:30 or 11 and by 2 or 3 AM he's wide awake. For a long time he would take a Unisom tablet and that seemed to work for him but now those don't work as well. Several people have suggested other things but I seriously want him to go to the doctor to see what the problem is. He says it's just stress. He hasn't been able to find a permanent job in a while and the only contract work he can get will go for a while but then end and he's back on the job hunt. He has been on the last job for 2+ years now and in 2 weeks that one will be over too. Anyway, Someone told him to try melatonin so he bought a bottle and that seems to be working pretty good for him. I asked him for one the other night and he said no, those were his to help him sleep. I don't really have a problem sleeping but I just wanted to see how they worked. Last night while he was in the other room so I opened his bottle and took one. I slept so well. So much so that I'm worried he's going to get addicted to these pills. When I told him I took one he hit the roof saying I always have this entitlement issue that what's his is mine and I should just be allowed to take it. He's now saying that he's now one night short of getting a good sleep because I just had to try one of his pills. He's angry and not speaking to me. Was I wrong to take one of his pills?

Veterinary drugs are totally different than human drugs, as are the two bodily systems. For example, a dog can tolerate a morphine dose that would kill a person, but one Tylenol can be fatal to them. Your doctor isn't going to know that drug whatsoever, so skip the middle man & contact Poison Control.

I’ve been getting a few small hdadcahes for the past two days after that. My mom kept saying that I “may have a brain bleed.” And now I read all this stuff about brain bleeding and I’m scared to death. What do you think?

They told me I may have cramps in my stomach and to lay on my left side if that is the case but nothing is helping. This is worse than period cramps and I can barely even walk without running to the bathroom. I get to the bathroom and I have such a hard time using the bathroom and when I finally do it’s very bloody. I can’t find any answers online to help me. I don’t have a thermometer so I cant check my temperature but I feel really hot when i use my hand.

I ve never focused too much on this, but I m starting to get frustrated with how little energy I have compared to my peers. I ve also noticed I m always a little achy, physically. I ve tried ruling out everything. For a while I had dry eyes which made me feel tired. I now have prescription eye drops, I m not anemic, and I m sleeping 8-9 hours. This makes me wonder if I really AM a more tired person. Is there any way I can explore this further? Is it because I m underweight? Any resources or advice would be great, because I don t know how to explain this to doctors and I m afraid people will think I m overexaggerating.

The night before last, a couple friends invited me over to their house to hang out and we we having a general conversation about dreams, which turned into a conversation about sleep and had told them early that my insomnia had been giving me a pretty bad headache so one of them told me his dad has a medicine he uses for his nightime headaches. They were tiny white pills that looked like any normal pill, like tiny asprins. He gave me 2 and after about half an hour I started feeling sick/nauseous, dizzy and uneasy so I laid down and feel asleep. I remember waking up a couple times at night panicking then falling back asleep. the next morning I woke up at like 11 and and was awake for about 20 minutes then fell asleep again. I told my friend that I had a bad night of sleep so he gave me 3 to take tonight. After I took them I asked him what they were and he said they were called Atarax. When I looked it up I found out it was an allergy pill and that some people use it for sleep. he said he gave me 25mg pills which is within a normal does for my age (16). but a little while ago I felt like my heart was racing and i panicked and collapsed. I havent told my parents or theirs about any of this bc I dont know how they'll react and i dont want my friend to get in trouble but is this normal and is the medicine safe (on a couple sites some ppl said it was safe with the right dose and others said it was dangerous). I got a little anxious and tried to throw up but didnt?

My wife and I are switching to a new HMO effective January 1st. Everything will change, our doctors, our pharmacy. We have a problem...both of us are on lifetime managed medications and we just filled our meds so we have till April before we need a prescription. This gives us plenty of time to find a new Dr, get lab tests and results, and get a new set of prescriptions. The only problem is 1 medication. It is a controlled substance and my wife's current dr only prescribes 1 month at a time. My wife has been taking this medicine for anxiety for over a decade, and one time she tried to quit it and she got paranoia, heart palpitations, and other crazy side effects. She is out of this medication on January 8th...not enough time to meet a new doctor, transfer all her records that explain she is legitimately on this medication, and get a new prescription. I don't know what to do when she runs out. Its gonna be scary. I thought about just requesting a new prescription over the phone from her usual doctor and just paying cash for the medicine if he send another month refill. That should get us into February. But if we request records from the Dr, he might know we changed drs and it might look like we are double dipping on the medicine. Any ideas on how to survive a lapse in this medication while transitioning to a new dr?
