• Am i worrying too much about my Dog?

And your brother needs to train his dog to let yours alone - all of the pit types were bred to be dog-aggressive, and sooner or later yours will snap and that will be the end of your brother's dog. You need to come up with a compromise solution. Your brother's dog can be confined in his bedroom while no one is at home to supervise, and yours can be brought in out of the cold. And if they object, then offer to split the days - one day his dog stays outdoors, the next day yours does. And when they complain that it's too cold to do that, you have just made your point. The home belongs to both of you - which means you have 'equal rights' to the dogs staying inside.

Do you think its fair other dogs enter our yard, provoke my dog, and my dog will be the one put down? Answers will probably be negative due to opinions on pits.

I have a family member who originally had two dogs who shared a medium sized cage. One dog is a small, chihuahua sized dog and the other is about the size of a lab. They are always in the cage together when there is company with a blanket over the cage. You can often hear them fighting in the cage to which the owners will yell at them and the dogs will stop. I also overheard one of the owners say that the bigger dog is usually in the cage most of the day even when they don't have company because "she doesn't do what she's told". In a recent visit to their house, I realized that they had gotten another lab sized dog and still had only one cage. I was raised around dogs, but they always had their own cages and were never punished by being forced to stay in the cage all day. I'm just wondering if this is considered animal abuse and if there's something that I can do about it.

  • My foster dog just had an operation on her stomach and she’s been standing up for hours and refuses to lay down. How do I get her to lay?

Best answer: Lots of soft cushions and physically lay her on her side and keep stroking her head gently. She should relax.

I have to dogs. Jack (16, we've had him since before i was born) and Basil (3). I love hm so much and up until the past week considered him healthy. But then all of a sudden he was sad, mopey and tired. I thought it was becausae the whole family went back to work and school because the holidays were over but then my brother noticed something. When my big brother was taking him fro a walk he noticed that my dogs pee was brown, he put 2 and 2 together and took him to the vet where they did blood tests and stuff. At first they thought he probably ate rat poison or something becasue we recently moved house and thought he could have eaten pool chemicals or something. But tpday the blood tests came back and its not rat poisoning and the vet is almost completely sure he has some auto immune disease that has made him anemic. She wants to get another opinion from another vet who wont be able to look at the blood for 2 days. I don't know what to do becasue for so long ive been trying to prepare mysef in case the older one (Jack) died but now my poor little baby Basil is sick. If Basil has this disease we will have o put him down. And i always thought wed have to get Basil used to not having Jack around but now it might be the other way around. We were meant to grow up together, just like Jack and I did. I'd move out and take Basil with me and I'd watch him grow old. It wasn't meant to go like this.

Thing is, I have another cat murderer but she’s a little dachshund so at least we can handle her. Now we’re adopting a Greyhound puppy very soon and i want him to be cat friendly because he will be big and obviously extremely fast so he would kill the cat in seconds. I’m scared that he might pick up on our dachshunds bad habits. I wanna socialize him with cats but none of my friends have any. What should I do?

  • Hypothetical question about barking dogs and loud and obnoxious children?

Best answer: I would take care of both. I would tell the dog to shut up and release from his leash because they're not supposed to be tied up in the first place. Then I would take the child and try to calm them down because it's my responsibility to make sure that child is okay.

But if I did have to make a choice, I would choose to shut up the child because the child is the reason why the dog is barking and once the child stops crying, the dog stops barking. Stopping the dog from barking is not going to help stop the child from crying, but it works the other way around. The child is my responsibility and I wouldn't let them keep crying so I would take care of them first.

For the last seven years, I’ve walked my dog down the same very peaceful path. It has gardens backing onto it, all with fences. Within the last six months, someone new has moved into one of the houses, and they have two extremely aggressive jack russells. Every time we walk past their garden now, they both come bolting out from inside the house, barking very aggressively and snarling and jumping up at the fence, baring their teeth and pushing their faces against the fence. My dog is not even slightly aggressive, however she obviously will bark back when this happens. It completely ruins our walk, gets my dog all worked up for absolutely no reason. It’ll happen if you walk past on your own without a dog too, so they are clearly doing this to every person that walks on this well used path. Nobody ever comes out the house to say anything or do anything. Is there any way I can get the owners to stop their dogs from doing this? I know they’re on their own property technically, but it wouldn’t surprise me if the very flimsy fence fell down at some point and someone or the kids or dog gets seriously injured. Thanks!

  • Does a Pomeranian mother's fur colour effect what colour the puppies will be?

I've seen a golden fur Pom give birth to a black-and-white Pom puppy (who was eventually named Panda). She was the only puppy in the litter with fur coat like that - the rest of them looked just like the mother.
