there is this really big full grown pit bull walking in the streets, i approach it and its super friendly. i see it looks very old and is very starving. i take him inside then give him some left over steak and let him sleep on my couch. should i keep him he obviously isn't owned since he has no collar and i could easily afford to get him toys food and a really good vet, problem is im on call for work 24/7 7 days a week, i might not see him as much as i want and im really glad i didn't get called for work while stitching him. also my partner has no idea that the dog is in the house to but they do like dogs. should i keep him he seems like a nice dog, though he looks old and may not live for too many years id gladly like to make his final days the best they can be. tommorow after work i either take him to the vet say hes my dog to get him properly treated (even though i did stop the bleeding, and did do a damn good stitch job) take him to a shelter or take him to the vet and keep him.he looks fine now that i fed him a big meal and gave him plenty of water

Best answer: Dogs have minds of their own, ANY dog can randomly attack, just like any human or animal under the correct circumstances, so the problem isn't necessarily that pitbulls are any more likely to attack than any other breed, it's that given the breed characteristics such as powerful jaws and a temperment that requires them to keep fighting regardless of what happens to them, when they do randomly attack they do more significant damage than other breeds, potentially killing the human that was attacked, this makes the attack "news" so people hear about it.

That said I cannot stand when people say that its based on the owner -- NOOOOO! they are animals, they can snap at any time like any animal! Every time you hear of a dog mauling a toddler you hear the owner saying "They never bit anyone before" Pits are bred to be powerful, they are not a dangerous breed because they are more likely to attack, but because it only takes once to kill someone!

Hello! I've recently bought a house, and I've been thinking about adopting a dog. I've had smaller dogs before when I was younger and lived with my parents (jack russel mix, a chihuahua, a lab mix and a blue heeler), and consider myself an experienced and attentive owner, but I think maybe a larger dog would better suit my lifestyle. There is quite a few rescue foundations, and a Prairie Pitbull Rescue foundation thats close by that I've looked at. I have a pretty average sized fenced in backyard, so there is lots of room for activities, and go on daily 5-9 KM runs. I am relatively outdoorsy on weekends and days off, but I am a University student, and I am away for 4-7 hours a day when the school semester starts up again, with occasional 5 hour shifts at my part time job. Its a relatively large house, and I'm renting some of the rooms out to friends who would also be home occasionally between classes and such, but I want to have some other opinions on this subject. I personally believe that I can provide a dog with what its needs, and spoil it with exercise and love, however I've never owned a larger dog such as a pitbull, and I was hoping to get some advice on whether or not this would be a good idea. Thank you! :)

I m still 16, so basically "a kid" and my parents won t take me seriously when I ask. I feel like I ve done everything, from getting good grades, cleaning up after myself, taking good care of my current pets (birds), and just generally being a good kid. But every time I ask, they always give me the same "it s going to become our dog" excuse. They keep telling me that I m going to get busy with friends, that I ll have school work, and that I ll get a boyfriend. The main reason I want a dog is because my friends don t really like me... I ve done my research about expenses, breeds, training et cetera, but my parents get impatient and I never get to the part where I explain anything. Most of the time, they ve just said no. I ve been patient and waited, but I just don t know how long I ll be able to go. I miss my other dog dearly, and I just want a second chance to really get things right and have a friend. I ve spent too many summer night researching and crying over a dog I might never get. I know I m making my parents seem like the bad guys, but I know they love me. It s just... There are so many good things about dogs that they ll never let me tell them about! No one has allergies, we have the money, and I ve reassured them an ungodly amount of times that I ll be the main caregiver. They re so set on their ways. Please help me, what else can I do to convince my parents to let me have my own dog? I feel like I ve done everything.

But then I did what you should do! I made a book! A wrote down Calender's for for what, how and when to care for it, lists of what it would need, spending amounts and detailed research into it too. I showed my dad and when I thought he was gonna say no I out on some cute 12-year-old girl crying eyes and said 'I worked really hard *sniff* to show how much I wanted this.... I-I just wanted *sniff* a friend to stay happy!" Granted, I was going through major depressive episodes... And a pet helped.

I think that you should just keep her; both of my cats were very clingy as kittens, because that's what kittens are like. She just wants your love, her mother might not have wanted her. I know it might be hard at first, but its all worth it.

I saw how playful it is. How fun it would be to train it. To let it of a lead once. I currently have a Bishon Frise. Your probably going to saw aww But no he doesn't do anything but bit peoples legs and bark at dogs I try training him but no use. He's 'clever' in his own way I guess. My parents also agree with my opinion about our dog. I said I would care for it. Not like our dog currently. Not do something he wants - pees in the house - bites up shoes - bites clothes - gets dirty in mud. How do I get my parents to agree with me to get a new dog so my really depressed dog will have company? (I will pay for the price of the dog i told the that) German sheperds cost about 200 - 400 in ireland. I told my mum I'm saving up for a dog but she just said "Yeaah hahaaha'
