While I can't remember if I've seen that part of Vancouver (it's been over 30 years since I've been to either), I'm reasonably certain it doesn't have that. In all fairness, neither does that village now, since they were beginning a sewer system when I was there. Suburbanization and globalization (the rise of automobiles, big-box stores and container ships with cheap goods, and the outsourcing of jobs) have turned many city neighborhoods and small town centers into urban blight. Forget Vancouver, go visit Detroit or Flint, Michigan if you want to see some true urban decay.

I just had a question, and I by no means am licensed or know much about the Canadian electrical code or any London Ontario by-laws regarding them. So I was hoping anyone that is in this profession or knows of the proof behind it, would be able to fill me in on some information. I currently live in a low rise apartment building, and I have been living here for over 2 years now. The landlord is nice, but the property manager is not. We have had nothing but complaints and I have heard from other tenants about the constant negligence and low-care for the proper maintenance and repairs of our building. That being said, I just noticed something that seemed like it may be wrong. In my fuse panel, I have 3 fuses. 1 for the stove, 1 for the fridge, and a 15A for the rest of my apartment unit. This includes 7 receptacle outlets (1 light has 4 light bulbs, 1 has 3, 2 have 2, 2 have just 1, and the last is actually a ceiling fan that also has 3 bulbs in it), and 14 receptacles (1 is a split receptacle, there is 1 receptacle in the bathroom, 4 in the living room, 2 in the kitchen and 4 in the bedroom). So in short, is it acceptable for an apartment complex to have just ONE 15 amp fuse that carries 7 lights and 14 receptacles? I live in London, Ontario.

Best answer: A temporary passport is usually issued for someone who MUST travel outside of Canada, but do not have access to the traditional passport. It's usually issued by consulates in foreign countries.

For example, imagine you were ALREADY travelling in Mexico and your passport was lost or stolen. Since you do not have a passport to board a plane to come home, the consulate or embassy usually issues a "temporary" passport which can be used to get you on the plane to come home.

I would have to guess that what the passport office is proposing is that they pretend it is too late to get you a passport through normal channels, and that they would issue a temporary passport to get you on your way.

I have had four passports so far since age 18. I never lost any of them. But I did misplace it in my home for several months... Ever do that thing where you put important paperwork aside for safekeeping and then forget where you put it? That sort of thing. When I eventually found it, it had expired and so I just got a new one. Now I keep it in a safe. And when I travel, it is stored in a special pouch around my neck. If I was going to Cancun or some beach vacation, I'd probably store it in the room safe so it's not laying around somewhere for people to steal.

Okay, here are some "reliable" sources. The problem is that you talk about "Spanish immigrants", but we don't know if you are studying about the country (Spain) or the language (Spanish). And there are certainly plenty of Latin American immigrants that came to Canada over the years, and many speak Spanish.

So here's two links based on the country or the language.

Statistics Canada regarding Latin American immigration

Exploration from Spain from 16th to 18th century

Also, here's a presentation done from a Spanish person who immigrated from Spain. They explain some reasons why the Spanish came to Canada, and may give you some dates in there.

  • What would I need to get a package past customs from Canada to America?

Best answer: it will go through customs in the US. You need to fill out a customs declaration listing the contents of the package, the value and the weight. You can do that at the post office or where ever you ship it - they'll weigh it for you.
