  • Does adding baking soda to your tomatoes make it less acid?

Best answer: If you are having troble eating tomatoes because of their acids, acids is what gives them their red color, and they like to grow in an acidic soil best.

Please try the yellow, lemon, or sunny yellow variety of tomatoes. The yellow tomatoes have much less, nearly no acids in them. And they taste much the same.

  • What would you suggest to have on the menu for an engagement party ?

The fiancée and I are having an engagement party and to save money, we decided to just make the food ourselves vs spend a ton of money on catering, we just can’t think of what exactly we should make ! Any ideas on what would be good to serve about 45 people and how much of it we should need as a rough estimate?

You need help here..enlist some family members. We all helped. We brought photo albums for everyone to look at and featured them at a specific table. We took photos with those instant Polaroid cameras that were around back then that developed the photo on the spot. If someone wanted to have photos, they only needed to bring film for the camera.

Get some name tags for everyone, maybe with a bit of info like, Mary, daughter of Jim and Susan Smith.
You would be surprised how many cool memories can be made at an event like that. I recently reconnected with my late husbands cousin. We got to talking and it turns out that at our big reunion, he was 12 and helped baby sit my 4 and 5 year old daughters at that reunion.
Get some help from other family members you know..this could be a blast.

Best answer: Just speaking for myself, I would try to do it family style, even passing around the dishes. You want to make it as comfortable and friendly as possible, and they can take whatever they like and even have seconds. I believe a family style dinner is much more friendly and intimate, and the goal you want o eventually achieve is everyone being part of the family. Don't make it stodgy and boringly "classy". As for me, being in the south, I would go as far as a good ol' southern cook, where you have everything warming on the stove with plates and cups nearby, so they can help themselves right out of the pot. Have a family style dinner.
