I am not surprised that you are a "little confused," because the facts are confusing, and there is evidence both ways.
To begin with, however, there is NO proof that deodorants or antiperspirants cause cancer. People who say that are playing fast and loose with almost no evidence. Unfortunately, the studies that have been done also do not prove that these products are 100 percent safe. But there is quite a bit of difference between saying that they are "not-yet-proven-to-be-100-percent-safe" and saying "they cause cancer."

A lot of the concern seems to focus on antiperspirants,which include aluminum compounds to stop your perspiration. If you want to take a reasonable approach to the issue, you might choose a product that is ONLY a deordorant and not also an antiperspirant.
