We have stayed there 6 nights/7 days and would never go there again. I don't know who decides how many stars are granted to hotels in Malaysia as this one is no 4 stars hotel, if you say three stars, it would be an undeserving compliment. Photos on the website are very misleading and this is only the beginning. Hotel is throughout shabby (without the chick) in very poor taste, reception staff is mostly sullen and uncooperative and I guess it shouldn't be a surprise considering the amount of complains and unhappy guests. If you want to know how people lived in the 60's this is the place to go, everything in the room belongs to a museum. On the very first day I had the opportunity/ies to meet the entire maintenance team as I had to call three times for problems with the bathroom and TV. Breakfast was another early disappointment as quality was awful; the good side of this was that I lost 2kgs by loss of appetite. Inside and outside the hotel you could see the unwritten message: "we want to save money and don't give a damn about you". Live evening entertainment was another low point as it was audio hell produced by some local artists with no voice whatsoever who screamed their lungs out long into the night. At least I was fortunate enough to be in a room at a good distance and did not affect me very much but I feel really sorry for people not as lucky. If you are homeless or live in a old caravan park, you might be able to put up with such accommodation but if you want to treat yourself with a nice & enjoyable accommodation is this beautiful country I suggest you to book Shangri-la Golden Sands where I stayed the previous two trips to Penang and a great place to stay for only a few dollars more - it's worth it as they are world apart. In all honesty, I wouldn't stay again at Bayview even if free of any charges, and if I think about it, even if they would pay me to.
