Theists occasionally become atheists... if there was a genetic component to religious belief, this wouldn't occur.

not them specifically, and its not like they have a christian gene. Human nature is to find some kind of ulterior being and to worship it. Every single culture, even those completely isolated found some kind of god to worship, its just what humans do. In a way it is in our genes. now as out society changes and our technology advances some people are moving away from our god worshiping predisposition and centering our lives on other things.

We do not worship "things", we worship the Most High God Who created all things! Yes, there is a predisposition to worship the Creator. We were created with the capacity to love our Father in heaven and have fellowship with Him. We were created to worship Him and give Him praise for what He has done. There is a part of the brain that dictates our desire to worship the Creator. Some ignore it but Christians choose not to. Peace!

Whats the christian gene? sounds like a load of s#!7 buh ok, anyway... i dont think there is a genetic "predispostion" but i dont think its entirely influence either because some people are in athiest surroundings and still become christian and vice verser.

There's probably a small genetic predisposition to theism, much like addiction.
Overall I think it's mostly due to brainwashing however.
