Nestorious belived that Jesus had two persons, one human and the other divine but Christians believe Jesus was fully man and fully God. Nestorious was considered a heretic. If Mary gave birth to Jesus she was mother to both the human and divine person because Jesus only has one being. This would make her the mother of God.

If you say Mary isn't the mother of God you say Jesus isn't God.
