Blues or Bruins?

Who are you rooting for?

Though I live in New England, I was born in St. Louis, so I'm definitely a Blues girl. My husband is a Bruins fan. lol

I don't really care who wins, I don't like or hate the Blues or the Bruins.

It seems about time for a Blues victory.

Rooting for the Blues. Unfortunately the Blues aren't doing what it takes to win. From what I could see in game 1, they passed the puck too much when on the attack, and they tended to get sloppy with their passes in the neutral zone.

Before the Sabres came into the league, I used to pull for the underdog teams, and with the Sabres history of not making the finals, (or the playoffs at all, recently) I still do.

I got my first transistor radio in the late '60s and it opened up my world. WBZ in Boston and KMOX in St Louis were both high-powered stations at night and I could pick up their signals quite well, with only occasional brief fading out. I would listen to Fred Cusick calling Bruins games and the legendary Dan Kelly calling the Blues. I liked the Blues because they had a guy who played for my hometown team in the AHL - Al Arbour (and later,Garry Unger). They also had 'The Red Baron', Red Berenson, who went to Detroit for Unger in 1970. I was listening the night in November 1968 that Berenson scored six goals. After every goal scored at home, the organist would play 'When the Saints Go Marching In' (though Berenson did that on the road in Phialdelphia).

By the early 1970s I had a better radio and the games came in more clearly. It was a special treat when the Blues and Bruins played one another, and I would listen to whichever station belonged to the home team. By that time I was really into hockey, playing on the local pond whenever I could, and I would imagine myself as a player for the Blues when I listened to those games with Boston. There was a kid at school I was a bit of a rival with at the time, and I would imagine him as Wayne Cashman for Boston. It had to be someone with some skill, but not one of the biggest stars, and at the time, Cashman was on a line with Phil Esposito (tops in the league) and Ken Hodge.

For whatever reason, I don't know why, maybe I just liked the name, and maybe because he seemed to be on the ice a lot, though he was not a great scorer, just a solid, hard-working two-way player, but I would be Frank St Marseille.

That video of Orr flying through the air after getting the Cup-winner in 1970 still kills me.

So I always have a soft spot in my heart for the Blues, and am definitely pulling for them this year.

I want the Blues to win their very first SC in franchise history. They've been waiting the longest for their first one as they yet to have one.
