Do you agree it's abuse when parents yell at their 17 year old daughter?

No, not at all, it only becomes abuse when it repeatedly happens which involves a physical fight

Depending on what they're saying that might be construed as verbal abuse. But it turns out verbal abuse isn't actually a crime. The better move would be for the 17 year-old child to not do the things that lead to disapproving parents.

    Not inherently.

But you gave absolutely ZERO details or context.

Not at all. Many 17 year olds, both male and female need to be yelled at.

    No.

It's called parenting. If they don't, someone else will.

If she just keyed a car or stabbed someone, then a bit of yelling is pretty reasonable. If she came back an hour after curfew or didn't wash her dishes then, no. That isn't reasonable.

If you aren't responsible enough to get home on time at 17 then yeah it is reasonable to be yelled at. Now if they were 10 minutes late then no real reason to yell, but an hour it is.

It does indeed -- it invariably means that the daughter has abused their trust in her ,yet again .

well you didnt say why they yelled at her.. there could be a zillion reasons why they needed to also.. at 17, she is still a minor and is living off them under their roof.. She should abide by the house rules.. maybe she didnt.. you didnt supply us with enough info on this question.. there are always two points of view.. hers and theirs..
