What happens at the death of a black hole?

So I know that the existence of virtual particle pairs at the event horizon cause Hawking radiation and it takes about 10^67 years for a black hole to evaporate but what happens at the end? Does the singularity just fizzle out of existence or does it end in a massive explosion that put supernovae to shame. Or is it something completely different entirely?

    As "Neb" says, the black hole loses mass, and the more mass it loses the more Hawking Radiation it produces and so the mass loss goes faster and faster.  The final stage is a total conversion of tons of mass into energy in a fraction of a second, so that's a really big explosion. (But nothing like a Big Bang --- more like a supernova.)

    I'm not a astro physicist but I would guess since the virtual particles that produce the hawking radiation is non violent when the black hole has a huge mass when it becomes a micro black hole and loses its lass mass it would definitely not produce a supernova

    Also they have micro black holes at CERN they just poof gone no big explosion no fanfare

    Hawking had doubts about the existence of Black hole as defined ,and so do the present scientists.

    it is also doubtful  that we know how the Universe came into existence t. We have no human scientist that ever witnessed the event.

    Its all in the eye of the beholder. If one wants to believe something that does not exist as defined.

    You seem to know something we don't. There is so little radiation from a black hole, we have yet to measure it.

    The atomic size black hole created àt Chadron accelerator oñly lived a couple milliseconds, you are talking the mass of many stars. They take on far more mass than is radiated, so they only gain more mass.

    They are said to Evaporate after a very long time

    It seems to be true or the Whole Universe would be taken over by them

    There is also talk about White Holes, where the pressure of the Singularity reaches a stage where it reverses its state and gives up all the Matter that it has swallowed

    Called the Unicorns of the Universe, none have been found

    But the properties of the White Hole sound similar to the Big Bang

    Maybe, that is how the Universe will end, like it maybe started, a Big Bounce

    Death of a Black Hole =  Big Bang.

  • As Hawking says, the black holes would evaporate. During evaporation, the black hole emits energy in the form of the positive particles that escape. The more massive the back hole, the more energy would be released. Over time, the black hole would eventually lose so much mass that it would become small and unstable.

    A black hole that has evaporated to 100,000 kg will have a lifetime of less than a tenth of a second. So, 100,000 kg of mass will be converted to Hawking radiation in a tenth of a second. That is going out with a bang .....
