knee pain,but doc says its not my knee,its my muscles.. I don't understand, I have really big leg muscles?

Update:

ive been running now for past 3 yrs and during my 2nd half marathon right at the end my knee started hurting bad,went through 6 weeks physical theropy,everything seemed ok,ran several 5k's, but the next 1/2 marathon at mile 7 my knee started hurting again and had to walk the rest(that was last april 2019)that's when I went to knee specialist after xrays he said it wasn't my knee but muscles,today training for the next russvegas half at mile 6 1/2 knee same ole story.Which muscles I need to work?

    I think you hit the nail on the head. You may have strong leg muscles but I'll bet your little tendons and ligaments that connect those muscles to your knees aren't quite as developed. They cannot keep up with the rigors your leg muscles are trying to force onto them. Specific physical therapy designed to strengthen those little guys will work wonders. Slowly.  Same thing happened to me.
