Are you talking about dead enemy combatants? No, as Mad Max stated. They're searched and stripped of any useful intelligence materials, weapons and ammo. Personal property is left with the body. We never notified anybody(I assume that has changed over the last 40 years). We did destroy the weapons and ammo though. And "trophies" were not allowed although that was ignored most times. Especially when conducting counterinsurgency operations. We'd collect a few weapons(when I was in it was Russian made AK's)to leave at other ambush locations. That was to conceal the fact that US troops were in the area.

In theater the bodies of Dead enemy combatants aren't burned. After the shooting stops they are stripped of ammo and weapons and Intel documents, etc, etc if present. The bodies are left for the locals to police up and bury. Muslim traditions dictate dead bodies must be put in the ground by the following Sunset. It can very by Unit SOPs sometimes the local police force may be notified from there will call the Coroner  or someone from the Ministry of Health to police up the dead remains for final disposition.
